Link Master for all your test needs

Test Applications

“Link Master is an extremely versatile product. We use it for Device Test, DAS installation, RAN optimization plus we can benchmark our competitors too.”

Mike, Manager RF Engineering

5G Data / LTE-A Data

Dramatically increased data throughput is achieved through increased network complexity.  With carrier aggregation active on both the LTE and the 5G NR network, your application layer data is split and transferred to your device through multiple RF channels.  This complexity leads to problems that require dissecting and analyzing each leg of the data transfer.  With Link Master you can:

  • Monitor the RF quality of each LTE and 5G NR carrier
  • Test both NSA and SA
  • Test VoNR
  • Characterize the modulation scheme used on each carrier
  • Monitor the PDPCP aggregation of the data between technologies.
  • Characterize the beam quality for both wide and narrow band beams
  • Test Qualcomm, Samsung and Mediatek chipsets

In-Building Test

LinkMaster Logging (LML) coupled with DASView automated reports create a powerful solution to accelerate in-building testing.

  • Import your data from iBWave using the .ibwc file format.
  • Export test results back to iBWave format.
  • Alternatively, use TAB files or simple JPG files.
  • Load all of your floorplans into the software prior to your test so that you can quickly select which floor you want collected.
  • DASView post processes the data while you are at the site location so that you know you have covered all of the areas you wanted to.
  • Use test phones to monitor network performance as well as a scanning receiver to measure RF quality independent from the phones.

Network Deployment

When new sectors are added to your network, or bands are split to accommodate more data traffic, it is important to properly test your network after the update.  Link Master is used for both data collection and analysis to insure your customers realize the benefit of your changes.  With Link Master you can:

  • Band lock your device to test performance on specific carriers.
  • Run a variety of application tests including ping, HTTP, YouTube, IPerf, FTP, voice
  • Monitor sector reach and handover events using the intuitive Trace Connection feature in LMA.

Device Testing

Characterize performance of new devices prior to lab entry.  Compare the results of your previous models in a head-to-head benchmark test for both voice quality and data performance.  Test a wide array of devices using our multiple chipset interfaces.  Generate test scripts to simulate real customer usage and take advantage of automated FIT reports.

VoLTE Testing

With the adoption of VoLTE as the standard to replace 3G circuit switch technology, it is critical to measure the performance of your voice service.  Part of this includes looking at all of the layers that contribute to the call including:

  • RF — layer 1 and layer 3
  • TCP/IP — SIP messages and RTP packet delivery
  • Application layer — Mean opinion score (MOS) to quantify the voice quality

Benchmarking

It is important to compare your network performance or new device with your competition — your customers will be doing it and it is better for you to know the results ahead of time.

With Link Master you can collect using up to 12 simultaneous devices for voice and data performance.

CBRS and LAA testing

Spectrum allocation is critical to efficiently deploying your network.  With unlicensed spectrum such as CBRS and LAA, network operators now have access to previously unavailable spectrum.  The deployment and testing of this new spectrum is part of the capabilities of Link Master.

  • Use modern phones such as the Samsung GS10 to lock onto the new bands
  • Use a scanner receiver such as the PCTel IBFlex or MXFlex scanner
  • Use popular Fixed Wireless Broadband devices

E911 Compliance Testing

When a customer calls 911, how will the reponders know where to go?  Every network is required to continually test the accuracy of the position that is reported to the public safety agency.  Link Master is used to generate test calls and provide ground truth locations for both stationary and mobile test plans.  With Link Master you can:

  • Monitor sector IDs and signal quality prior to placing stationary test calls.
  • Support test calls on VolTE, CDMA, and WCDMA networks.
  • Place simultaneous calls with up to 12 connected devices.
  • Generate output reports that can be fed into 3rd party compliance reporting tools such as West LPM.
